Whether you're a vintage car spotter or an armchair petrol head, 1001 Cars To Dream Of Driving Before You Die brings you the world's best cars - Corvettes from the United States, MGs from the UK, Mazdas from Japan and Holdens from Australia. One of the first truly global guides to cars, they're all here: from Henry Ford's pioneering Model T with its hand-cranked starter to the latest hi-tech vehicles like the Lexus LS600H hybrid-powered 4x4 sport saloon. But this not just a supercar catalogue - Cobras, Corvettes and Caterhams share the pages with Citroens, Chryslers and campervans. And there's plenty of room for extraordinary vehicles such as the Trabant, the Land Rover and the DeLorean. Arranged in chronological order and packed with high quality photographs, incisive writing and specification tables, this guide presents a unique history of motoring through the ages. Discover the engineering revolution that helped shape the last century, from the first Panhard and Benz production cars to the latest 200-mph sports machines: from the basic Willys Jeep to the Porsche Cayenne sports off-roader, and from the original "people car" - the VW Beetle - to the cars that look to the future, such as the hybrid Toyota Prius and the Indian electric REVA. Learn about the unsung heroes, including cars that have helped win wars and those designed to minimize pollution, and enjoy the famous cars too, such as James Bond's Aston Martin, James Dean's Porsche, and Al Capone's Cadillac V16. 1001 Cars to Dream of Driving Before You Die reveals the stories behind the cars, the geniuses who designed them, the companies and factories who built them, and the people who drive them. It's a mine of fascinating motoring information that will keep you dreaming about cars forever.
