John White, dubbed the "Master of the Sporting Factoid", has created a niche market with his sports Miscellany series, which now contains well in excess of a dozen titles. From his home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he has created a database of facts, stats and stories on a wide range of sports from football to Formula 1 and cricket to cycling. In addition to Carlton's Miscellany series, in 2008 he also produced White's Sporting Almanac. Boxing legend Barry McGuigan, "The Clones Cyclone", has written the Foreword. A former world featherweight champion (he also won a gold medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, at bantamweight), he won 32 of his 35 professional fights, 28 inside the distance. Since retiring, he has become a regular on television and radio as a boxing analyst.
